General Admission Guidelines
All seats in the B.Tech programs at UTU are filled based on merit as determined by the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and in accordance with the norms set by the State Government and the State Fee & Admission Committee. The fee structure is uniform for all categories as decided by the authorities.
Admission Criteria for B.Tech Programs at Uttarakhand Technical University
Required Documents for Admission
Candidates must submit the following documents at the time of reporting and admission:
- 10th Marksheet
- 10th Passing Certificate
- 12th Marksheet
- 12th Passing Certificate
- Diploma Marksheet (for Lateral Entry students)
- Diploma Passing Certificate
- JEE/UKSEE Score Card
- Counseling Allotment Letter
- Aadhar Card
- Original Medical Certificate from a government hospital
- Original Character Certificate
- Original GAP Certificate (if applicable)

Candidates seeking admission to the second year of B.Tech must meet the following criteria:
1. Diploma Holders: Must have completed a three-year Diploma in Engineering from an AICTE-approved institution in the relevant branch with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks (45% for reserved category candidates).
2. B.Sc. Graduates: Candidates must have obtained a three-year B.Sc. degree from a recognized university, along with passing the XII standard with Mathematics as a subject. A minimum of 50% marks is required (45% for reserved category candidates).
Admission Process:
Admission is based on the inter-se merit of the Uttarakhand State Entrance Examination (UKSEE), conducted by UTU, typically held between April and June.
Candidates must have completed their Intermediate examination from recognized boards, achieving at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) (45% for reserved category candidates).
Admission Process:
Admission to the first year is granted through JEE Main merit, followed by the Uttarakhand State Online Counseling process.
- Students from the B.Sc. stream must clear subjects such as Engineering Graphics/Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mathematics from the first year along with their second-year subjects.
- B.Sc. candidates will be considered only after filling supernumerary seats with students from the Diploma stream.
Admission Criteria for BCA Programs at Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU)

Admission to the BCA programs at UTU is conducted based on merit, following the norms set by the State Government and the State Fee & Admission Committee. The fee structure is uniform for all categories as decided by the authorities.
- Candidates must have completed their 10+2 education from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for reserved category candidates).
- Students should have studied Mathematics as a subject in their 10+2 curriculum.
Admission is typically based on the merit obtained in the qualifying examination (10+2) along with any entrance exams if applicable.
