In view of the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the matter of “University of Kerala v/s Council, Participants, Colleges and others” in SLP No. 24295 of 2006 dated16/05/2007and that dated 08/05/2009 in Civil Appeal No.887 of 2009, the Raghavan Committee Recommendations, and the UGC Regulation curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, the members of Anti- Ragging Committee of the institute are nominated as follows:

As per AICTE guidelines, a committee is formed for prevention of atrocities against SC/ST students under the Act No. 33 of 1989, Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. The Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) Cell in an institute promotes the special interests of students in the reserved category. In case of any grievance in this regard, students can approach the committee for redress.

A Grievance Redressal Committee in the Institution has established and an OMBUSDMAN by the University has appointed. (As per All India Council for Technical Education (Redressal of Grievance for Students) Regulation, 2019 vide F. No.1-101/PGRC/AICTE/Regulation/2019 dated 07.11.2019).

Objective: –
The Objective of the Grievance Redressal Committee is to address any grievances raised by students related to general administration, Examination / Evaluation and any other problems related to day to day functioning. All aggrieved students and parents may approach the Grievance Redressal Committee of the Institution in the first instance; and if they are not satisfied with the decision of the committee they may send their appeals to the OMBUDSMAN directly. The “OMBUDSMAN” shall exercise powers to hear those grievances and ensures its disposal within Stipulated Period of the receipt by speedy redress of grievances.

An Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) (As per Section 4 All India Council for Technical Education (Gender Sensitization, Prevention and Prohibition of Sexual harassment of Women Employees and Students and Redressal of Grievances in Technical Institutions) Regulations, 2016 vide No.F.AICTE/WH/2016/01dated 10 th June, 2016)) has established in the institute.

Objectives: –
1. To promote awareness about sexual harassment through educational initiatives that encourages and fosters a dignified and safe environment for women on campus.
2. To provide a neutral, confidential and supportive environment for the campus community who may have been sexually harassed.
3. To ensure fair and timely resolution of complaints about sexual harassment.
4. To provide information regarding counseling and support services on the campus.
5. To ensure that students, faculty and staff are provided with current and comprehensive information on sexual harassment and assault.

The anti-drugs committee of the AKIT, Tanakpur has been constituted to ensure a drug- free campus by imposing a total ban on the possession or consumption or use of drugs and alcohol by students of the college, within or outside the campus. The duties of the anti-drugs committee contain organizing awareness programs in the college with the help of government authorized agencies/organizations. Educating the students regarding the ill-effects of drugs and alcohol, encouraging peer policing among students against the use of drugs and reporting of any noticed use of drugs by the students to the students affairs committee are also the duties of the committee.
