Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Institute of Technology, Tanakpur celebrated the birth anniversary of former President and “Missile Man of India,” Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, with great enthusiasm and reverence. The celebration’s theme for this year was “Empowering Students as Agents of Innovation and Change.”
Students from all four years of B.Tech and BCA programs gathered together to pay heartfelt tribute to their role model and visionary scientist. The chief guest for the event was Mr. Hemesh Kharkwal, former MLA, who graced the occasion with his presence.
The program began with students sharing their thoughts on Dr. Kalam’s life, values, and contributions.

Prof. Hardwari Lal Mandoriya, Director of the institute, welcomed the guests and emphasized that Dr. Kalam’s life continues to inspire millions of students across the globe. He stated that Dr. Kalam dedicated his entire life to serving the nation through his work at DRDO and ISRO, and later as President of India. Encouraging students toward innovation, he remarked, “If the youth is good, the nation will be good.”
Chief Guest Mr. Hemesh Kharkwal shared his association with the institute’s establishment and emphasized that the true identity of any institution lies in its students. He provided students with valuable tips on effective public speaking and narrated his own life struggles. Sharing an emotional anecdote from Dr. Kalam’s life, he mentioned how Dr. Kalam’s mother sold her jewelry to support his education. He urged students to pursue their dreams fearlessly, take inspiration from “Wings of Fire,” and contribute to making India a Vishwaguru (world leader).
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Abhishek Pathak, Deputy Registrar, who expressed gratitude to all guests, faculty members, staff, and students for their active participation.
On this occasion, Mr. Hemesh Kharkwal was felicitated with a memento by the honorable Director. The campus was filled with enthusiasm and inspiration, resonating with Dr. Kalam’s ideals of innovation, simplicity, and dedication.
Distinguished attendees included Mr. Amit Bhatt (Former Councilor), Mr. Vinod Badola (District President), and Mr. Suraj Mishra (Youth Assembly President), along with all faculty members, staff, and students of the institute.
