Successful Industrial Visit to NHPC Banbasa by AKIT Tanakpur Students
Date: 2nd May 2025
Location: NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation), Banbasa
We are pleased to announce that the Departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Robotics & Automation Engineering of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Institute of Technology (AKIT), Tanakpur, successfully organized and conducted an industrial visit to NHPC Banbasa on 2nd May 2025.
The visit was coordinated as part of the institute’s continued efforts to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world industrial practices. Over 80 students participated in the visit, accompanied by faculty members from the respective departments.
At NHPC Banbasa, students gained practical exposure to:
-
Hydropower generation processes
-
Dam infrastructure and safety mechanisms
-
Mechanical systems used in power plants
-
Automation technologies used in energy management
-
Civil engineering aspects of large-scale hydroelectric projects
The technical staff and engineers at NHPC guided the students through various sections of the facility, shared insightful presentations, and answered questions related to energy production, environmental impact, and maintenance protocols.
Such visits play a crucial role in enhancing the technical understanding and industrial awareness of engineering students. The interaction with professionals from the energy sector inspired students to explore innovative approaches and understand the relevance of their academic curriculum in the real world.
We extend our sincere gratitude to NHPC Banbasa for their warm hospitality and informative sessions, and to the faculty and staff of AKIT for their coordination and guidance.
With Regards,
